Canandaigua kids turn bathhouse into a lakeside art gallery: See the photos

ree

CANANDAIGUA, NY — It’s hard to believe in the midst of a Finger Lakes heat wave, that way back in February the folks in charge of Canandaigua’s Paint and Rec summer program were talking about giving the Kershaw Park bathhouse a makeover.

Talk has turned to action, as kids ranging in ages from 7 to 14 have been transforming the formerly blah-looking bathhouse with some color and talent and celebrating the city's and lake's history and ecology, as well as the operation of the Kershaw Park beach area, in the process.

Now, they’re almost done. The grand reveal is 6 p.m. Aug. 22.

Here’s a sneak peek at the artists and what they’ve been doing.
