CANANDAIGUA, NY — This holiday season, downtown Canandaigua was transformed into Whoville, the town in the Dr. Seuss holiday classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”
As part of the Whobilation celebration, storefronts were decorated by young Canandaigua artists. The students painted Grinch scenes and characters on about 20 store windows. The artists on Saturday also helped younger kids celebrate the holiday with face painting and other activities at the Central on Main, which was transformed into the Grinch village.
The Grinch, star of stage and screen, even made special appearances around downtown, including the Unique Toy Store for a book reading and to promote “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The musical,” which will be staged at the West Herr Auditorium Theatre in Rochester Dec. 3-8. For details, visit rbtl.org or ticketmaster.com.
Rumor has it the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes larger after the lighting of a special Grinch-like tree.
